Canon used The Photography Show as a chance to show some of its concept cameras to the world, probably with half an eye on consumer feedback. One of the product was a smartphone camera, that in this case could connect to an iPhone via a lightning connector. The small unit contained a 400mm zoom lens, and had an option eye loupe/monocular that would allow it to be used as a tiny spotting scope style camera.
Real detailed specification was few and far between and as Canon stated this is very much just a concept idea, so it may never seen production.
This isn’t the first time that camera companies have tried modular smartphone cameras; Olympus have their Air models, and Sony have the QX line-up, whilst probably the most interesting is the DxO camera.
What do you think? Is there a place for a camera like this in the market?
