There are some cracking manual focus lenses manufactured in China right now and 7Artisans joins the party, with four affordable lenses designed for mirrorless cameras.
Out of the four new manual focus lenses, there is something for Sony E, MFT, Fujifilm X, Canon EOS M and Leica M camera users.
Now, when we say affordable, we mean cheap as chips. Prices start at $70. (No, that is not the Leica M mount one.)
We haven’t tested any of these lenses just yet. It might be fair to assume they are cheap for a reason, yet from the product pictures alone the all-metal lenses look rather good. The fact they are manual focus only helps to keep the cost down too.
Let’s take a quick look at each one of the four new 7Artisans lens - we’ll crank up the price point as we go.

7Artisans 25mm f/1.8 lens for Sony E/ Fujifilm X/ M43 mounts
This compact all-metal lens weighs only 143g. Its lens construction features 7 elements in 5 groups. The aperture range is f/1.8 to f/16 and there are 12 diaphragm blades that should provide a rounded bokeh effect. The lens accepts 46mm threaded filters.
There are APS-C and Micro Four Thirds versions of the lens, both of which are available for $70 here.
7Artisans 7.5mm f/2.8 lens for Sony E/Fujifilm X/MFT mounts
This 7.5mm f/2.8 fisheye all-metal lens offers the standard fish eye field of view of 180° and a minimum focus of 12cm.
Slightly chunkier as we would expect, it’s still lightweight and compact for a fish eye lens, weighing 275g.
The lens construction consists 11 elements arranged into 8 groups. The 7-stop aperture range is f/2.8 to f/22 and the lens also has a 12-bladed iris.

7Artisans 35mm f/2 lens for Sony E/Fujifilm X/Canon EOS M mounts
A mere 320g and 41mm deep, the 7Artisans 35mm f/2 full-frame lens is available in Sony E, Fujifilm X and Canon EOS M mounts.
Its aperture range is f/2 to f/16 and there are 10 aperture blades. This simple aluminium body lens has a construction of 7 elements arranged into 5 groups and a 43mm filter thread.

50mm f/1.1 for Leica M mount
Cheap and Leica are not often found in the same sentence. Yet here we have a 50mm f/1.1 lens for Leica M cameras that costs $370.
A little bit of weight behind it, the aluminium body weighs 400g and is available in black or silver. The lens construction is 7 elements arranged into 6 groups, aperture range is f/1.1 to f/16 and there are 12 aperture blades.
The lens is available here. The current version isn’t compatible with the Leica M4 and M4A, but models from September onward will be.
