As soon as the final version of the Panasonic LUMIX GH5 went on show there were factories in the far east frantically configuring production cages for the new camera. According to our friends over at News Shooter the 8Sinn cage was the first to be announced. Now, hot on its heals is CAME-Tv’s GH5 cage.
If you are videographer you should know what to expect from a cage by now. The machined aluminium CAME-Tv GH5 cage has a cut out front panel that helps to prevent the camera twisting. The cage also allows for batteries and memory cards to be replaced without its removal. There is a top handle that attaches via a clamp mechanism, meaning it can be added and detached without the need to carry tools with you. And, as usual, the rod clamp at the bottom can hold a pair of 15mm diameter rods.
The top of the cage features an off centre cold shoe mount. This mount replaces the shoe on the camera that the cage covers. In addition, the cage handle offers a second cold shoe. If two cold shoes, for perhaps a microphone and top light, aren’t enough, then there are the usual adornment of mounting holes all over the cage - so you can accessorise to your hearts content.
No word on EU and GBP pricing, but the GH5 cage is listed at $298 USD. For more information see CAME-TVs website
