Surely already in strong contention for the prize for Gadget-That-Looks-Like-Another-Gadget 2017 is this phone charger from Fotodiox. Sorry, the Mirage Trio charging station. Anyhow, it’s a USB charger styled to look like a Sony a-series camera. Yes, that’s a thing that you want!
Mirage Trio - three is the magic number
Plug it in and pop on your smartphone (Android or iPhone) and, er, charge. To your heart’s content. Or at least until your smartphone is ready to go again. Wait! There’s more! The Mirage Trio will charge up to three devices at once (see what they did there) and the lens accessory contains a compartment for charging your Apple Watch - though you’ll have to supply your own cable. There’s also a full-size USB port to charge up another device. Maybe a battery shaped like a hard drive? A hard drive shaped like a banana? The possibilities are endless.
The charger’s lens also has an actual Sony E-mount connection so you could use the Mirage to store a spare lens for your real a7 if you wanted. The charger is compatible with a wide range of phones and tablets (there’s a full list below). It’s priced at $74.95 though, which seems a little steep for a three-port USB charger. Though what price the gift for the photographer who has everything? Um, $74.95.
