Leica has announced the latest update to its Leica SL firmware. The new 2.2 version promises improved support for Mac owners who use Leica Image Shuttle 3.5 and Tethered Plug-in 1.1.0 software, as well as supporting the latest version of Leica Image Shuttle 3.5 for Microsoft Windows.
Leica’s Image Shuttle software allows for tethered shooting with the Leica SL via its USB 3.0 connection. The software allows for complete remote control of the cameras exposure settings, and autofocus. In addition the Tethered Plug-in software means that Adobe Lightroom users can capture image from the Leica SL directly in to Lightroom, saving valuable import time, and allowing for quick full screen image previews.
Those using M mount lenses with the Leica M-Adapter T/SL will be pleased to hear that “Firmware update 2.2 also removes the shutter speed limitation when shooting with 6-bit coded Leica M-Lenses, whilst further optimising the performance of the Leica SL system”. Quite what the performance optimisations exactly are remains unknown, but a few bugs have clearly been ironed out.
Registered Leica SL owners can download the new software and firmware updates from the Leica Owners’ Area (<a href="https://owners.leica-camera.com/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www free samples for men.google.com/url?hl=en-GB&q=https://owners.leica-camera.com/&source=gmail&ust=1481789864405000&usg=AFQjCNFFoL2jXENhC0XaU-YjaGv1HMQSAg”>https://owners.leica-camera.com) or take their camera to their local Leica Store or Leica Customer Care in the UK for a complimentary installation.
Released in October 2015, the Leica SL is a full frame mirrorless camera with a 24-million-pixel CMOS sensor. Its stand out features include a class leading 4.4-million-dot EVF, 4K 30fps video capture, with the option of 10-bit 4:2:2 output through its HDMI socket.
