Lastolite by Manfrotto continues to expand its range of backgrounds, adding two new panoramic backgrounds to the collection. These new 4m wide backgrounds are now available in Granite and Limestone.
Lastolite Panoramic Backgrounds attach to a collapsible, self-supporting, three-panel lightweight aluminium frame. The framework needs no additional support.
Setting up and taking down the background takes a matter of minutes - so says Lastolite. (Well in the feature video, make that 7min 30 seconds.) Once collapsed, the frame measures a portable 100x30x35cm.
All too often portable backdrops are too small to effectively cover subjects - not so with the panoramic collection. Group photos, use of negative space - it is all possible.
Those two new colours provide a textured surface, with the Granite version showing a hard vignette in its edges. The Limestone version exhibits a more subtle tonal range.
Avoiding creases is a challenge when using portable backdrops that get packed away regularly. In these backgrounds, the material stretches over the framework, creating a crease-free backdrop. Handy.
We say that Lastolite has produced a decent product here, that appears to address the common problems that on-the-move studio photographers encounter.
