The Manfrotto PixiPano360 is a compact, motorised head that can be remotely controlled to create panoramas and moving timelapse videos with your camera.
With a payload of up to 2kg, the PixiPano360 supports smartphones and action cameras like the GoPro, in addition to CSCs and entry-level DSLRs. The target market is definitely more the smartphone user.
In operation, the Manfrotto PixiPano360 offers 360° movement and a ‘photographic stitching algorithm to produce a seamless panoramic’.
Controlled via a dedicated app (on Android and iOS) with Bluetooth wireless connection, or with an external remote control, the user has precise control over angle and rotation speed.
Small yet solid, the PixiPano360 is constructed of premium metal yet will take up very little space in your bag, or pocket.
Manfrotto’s own micro tripods like the Pixi Mini and Pixi Evo are a perfect match to the compact PixiPano360. However, the device will attach to any tripod via its universal 1/4in thread on the bottom.
The PixiPano360 comes supplied with a universal smartphone and an action camera adaptor, both of which are attached to the top 1/4in thread. You will also get a carry case to store the device when it is not in use.
Roughly the same size as a GoPro action camera, the PixiPano360 is powered by a built-in battery.
This all sounds good to us and we have recently received a PixiPano360 to have a play. First impressions are good.
We are especially keen to create some timelapses with the PixiPano360 and see just what features the app offers and how effectively it functions.
Stay tuned to find out how we got on with the PixiPano360.
