Sevenoak has added three new filmmaking accessories to its product range, including two follow focus systems and a universal camera cage that is compatible with most DSLRs.

Here is what filmmakers need to know about Sevenoak’s new accessories:

Sevenoak camera cage

The solid and industrial looking SKC03 aluminum camera cage is compatible with most DSLRs and able to support up to 20kg.

Cages with the same design concept are already available from Sevenoak for Sony A7, Panasonic GH and the Blackmagic range of cameras.

Like most cages on the market, of which there are many, the SKC03 features a removable top handgrip and plenty cold-shoes for mounting accessories.

Industry standard 15mm rods are clamped to the base, which is where Sevenoak’s follow focus systems can be attached.

With the camera mounted to the quick release plate via either 1/4in or 3/8in mounts, users can enjoy unrestricted access to all camera controls, buttons and battery compartment.

The camera cage comes supplied with a mini HDMI to HDMI adapter cable and HDMI plug protector.

Sevenoak follow focus systems

Sevenoak SKFX1 and SKFX2 anodised aluminum follow focus systems are compatible with a wide range of DSLR lenses.

Both models can be positioned on either side of a lens and mounted to a 15mm rod support, as found in Sevenoak’s range of camera cages.

Each follow focus model comes supplied with three lens gear rings that fit the following lens sizes: 66-77mm, 77-88mm and 88-99mm. A removable magnetic marking disc is also included.

The gearbox of the SKFX1 and SKFX2 is ‘flippable’, meaning the wheel can operate focus in either direction.

With a quick release plate, the SKFX2 looks the quicker of the two to install and remove. Other key differences is that the more expensive SKFX2 is weightier, features A/B hard stops, adjustable locking system and it attaches to dual 15mm rod supports. The SKFX1 attaches to a single 15mm rod.

Pricing

SRP including VAT of the follow focus systems is £176.94 for the SKFX1, £219.96 for the SKFX2 and for the SKC03 camera cage it is £129.96.

We say Sevenoak’s new accessories are keenly priced and look like they could withstand some rough treatment. Hopefully, these products will find their way onto our test cameras soon.
